Mental Health Matters
Mental health involves our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects our thoughts, feelings, and behavior, and it also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices.
Mental and physical health are equally important parts of our overall health. Mental health is important in every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.
Mental Health Awareness Month is observed annually in May to raise awareness about mental health. Since 1949, this national movement has been led by two grassroots organizations, Mental Health America and the National Alliance on Mental Illness to provide support, educate the public, advocate for policies that support the millions of people in the U.S. affected by mental illness, and end the stigma about mental health.
Three of the best ways to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month –
- Take care of yourself.
- Take care of your loved ones.
- Talk about mental health.
