Since 1949, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) has joined a national movement to observe May as Mental Health Awareness Month and spread the word to millions of people that mental health is something everyone should care about.

Each year, NAMI and other organizations fight the stigma, provide support, educate the public, and advocate for policies that support people with mental illness and their families. This year, NAMI is celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month with the More than Enough campaign.

On April 28, 2023, President Joseph Biden issued a proclamation to call upon citizens, public and private agencies, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and other groups to join in activities and take action to strengthen the mental health of our communities and the Nation.
