Kudos! February Wellness Champions
This month, we want to recognize the Recreational Services Department for successfully responding to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic!
Recreational Services offers a wide array of programming and services on the Atlanta campus and the Perimeter Campuses such as aquatics, fitness classes, instructional clinics, special events, personal training, intramurals, sport clubs, outdoor recreation, locker rental and equipment rental.
The Student Recreation Center and Perimeter fitness centers reopened their doors in August 2020 for in person drop in use and programming. During fall semester, the Student Recreation Center and Perimeter campuses served more than 41, 000+ in person entries with COVID guidelines and protocols in place.
Virtual programs have been a great addition to their recreation programming. Starting in March of 2020, the department quickly got to work with offering a variety of fitness classes and programs available virtually that is not restricted at https://recreation.gsu.edu/engage-every-day/
To prepare to play on campus, Recreational Services implemented COVID-19 guidelines and safety practices according the CDC recommendations. Everyone who wishes to access the recreation facilities will be required to complete a brief COVID-19 screening and have their temperature taken at each of the facilities main entrance. Face coverings are required and are worn in addition to and is not a substitute for social distancing. In addition, hand sanitizers are available in all areas. Gym wipes are available in all areas for patron use.
