National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month
In May, 2008, the United States House of Representatives announced the approval of a resolution to declare July as National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month in honor of Bebe Moore Campbell, author, advocate, and co-founder of the National Alliance on Mental Illness in Los Angeles.
This observance is intended to help raise awareness about mental illness and its effects on racial and ethnic minority populations, and, address the need to improve access to mental health treatment and services.
