Cervical Health Awareness Month
January is Cervical Health Awareness Month. Cervical Health Awareness Month is an opportunity to raise awareness about how women can protect themselves against HPV (human papillomavirus) and cervical cancer. HPV is an infection that is spread through sexual activity and is the cause for most cases of cervical cancer.
Thankfully, the HPV vaccine can prevent HPV, and cervical cancer can often be prevented with regular screening tests and follow-up care. Women can take action by scheduling their annual Well-Woman exams, which are covered by most insurance plans at no cost.
