National Great Outdoors Month
“Great Outdoors Month” is celebrated in June. This concept started as “Great Outdoors Week” under the Clinton Administration in 1996, now it is recognized throughout the month of June!
Being outdoors is not only fun, but it also offers many health benefits. Here are some different activities that will allow you to enjoy the great outdoors.
- Visit a park– Around the city of Atlanta, there are Centennial Olympic Park, Woodruff Park, Atlantic Station, Piedmont Park, and so many other beautiful places to enjoy the outdoors. Carve out some time to have a picnic or even just bask in the sun!
- Ride scooters in the concrete jungle– The newest craze of riding scooters around downtown Atlanta can help you explore the city! Getting from one end of downtown to midtown can help you explore some of the sights along the way. A word of caution, please follow all the safety instructions issued when riding an electric scooter.
- Play a pick-up game of basketball– Sight-seeing is great, but so is physical activity! Playing a game of basketball at an outdoor park is a great way to fill your lungs with fresh air! When enjoying any type of physical activity outdoors, always make sure to stay adequately hydrated and wear sunscreen.
- Go to a concert at an outdoor venue– Listening to some of your favorite music while enjoying beautiful scenery is an excellent way to spend time in the great outdoors. Going to an outdoor concert with loved ones is even better!
Make plans today to enjoy some time in the great outdoors!
